Upcycled vintage picture frame, beautifully painted for a modern yet classic home decor look. | on the creek blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

Hey there, Besties! 🌟✨

Today, I'm bubbling with excitement to share a little secret of mine that adds a magical touch to our home – upcycling vintage picture frames! You know how I adore bringing new life to old treasures, right? Well, this time, it's all about those glorious, grand picture frames! 🖼️🎨

Vintage Frames: A Love Affair with the Past

There's something about vintage-looking picture frames that just captures my heart. Maybe it's their story, intricate designs, or just the charm they carry from a time ago. They're like little time capsules, adding depth and character to any space. 🕰️❤️

The Thrill of the Thrift: Finding the Perfect Frames

Imagine stumbling upon huge, majestic picture frames at a local thrift store. That's exactly what happened to me! It was love at first sight. But, oh, they needed some love and care. They were like hidden gems waiting to sparkle again. I knew I had to give them a new lease on life. ✨

The Transformation: Painting Magic

Here's where the fun began. I rolled up my sleeves and got my paintbrushes out. Choosing the perfect colors to complement their vintage charm was like picking out a gown for a ball – exciting yet crucial! Painting these frames wasn't just about changing their look; it was about enhancing their stories, making them a fitting part of our home's narrative. 🎨🏡

The Impact of 'Big' in Decor

Let's talk about size – because, in the world of picture frames, size does matter! I love huge frames. They're not just photo holders but statement pieces and conversation starters. When upcycled and hung on the walls, these large frames create focal points, adding a sense of drama and elegance to our cozy home. 🌟🖼️

The Joy of Upcycling

This project was more than just a decor update; it was a testament to the joy of upcycling. Giving a new life to something old is not just creative but also a sustainable choice. Every brush stroke felt like a small step towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle. 🌍♻️

Whether you're a seasoned thrifter or just starting out, I encourage you to try this. Dive into the world of vintage frames and let your creativity flow!

Remember, each frame is a story waiting to be retold. Happy upcycling! 🖼️✨

My super cute entryway is filled with thrifted items!

I'm slowly getting into organizing mode with my house. I've collected so many great things from thrift stores over the years & I never really displayed anything. But, honestly, home decorating intimidates me to no end. But, in the spirit of doing whatever I want, I'm giving it a go!

Here's my little front entryway styled to the max. I thought I always wanted less stuff, but I just wanted fewer things on the ground. I couldn't care less about the walls! Luckily, I have so many wall things to hang up! Maybe my style would be called "organized clutter"?! Is that a thing?

My goal right now is to get everything up from the basement & onto the walls. From there, I can rearrange.

I'm also going to get rid of many things that I can no longer use or like. I have a lot going on this summer & I want to make it easier to keep my house clean. Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in stuff & it's difficult to clean. So I'm now on a mission to either display or get rid of things.

Awesome & Unique Items Found At The Thrift Store | On The Creek Blog

Items found at the thrift store over the weekend!

We did a little thrift shopping over the weekend & I picked up a few cute things!

I've been a little more picky with what I buy lately.  I have worked on enough projects to have a decent idea of things I want to get into & what to leave alone.  Of course, every project is different & there are always surprises!  Something that seems simple might end up being quite time consuming!

Here's my latest thrift haul!

Vintage board game repurposed as rustic wall art in a log home living room | on the creek blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
Hey Besties, 🌟

Guess what? I stumbled upon the cutest, most rustic-chic treasure ever, and I just have to share it with you! Picture this: an old, lovingly worn board game transforming into the most charming wall art you've ever seen. 🎨🌿

So, here's the backstory. A few years ago, during our annual family yard sale (you know, the one where we all get together and turn our lawn into a treasure hunter's paradise?), I wandered over to my neighbor's sale. He was moving and had his life's collection up for grabs. This neighbor, bless his heart, had been a fixture in the neighborhood forever, so you can imagine the gems he had!

Now, let me sidetrack for a second with our little yard sale tradition. Ever since that one year when my grandma's car decided to take a little break (literally!), and my husband and I dashed off to rescue her during our sale, we've made it a thing to peek at other yard sales. That time, we found this epic roll of Christmas wrapping paper - a never-ending story of festive cheer for just $5! Note to self: I must do a whole post on that magical roll!

Back to the board game - it's got this perfectly played-in look like it's been part of a million family game nights, which only adds to its charm. It's vibrant yet fits so cozily into our living room decor. When we first moved into our log home (yes, very few drywall moments here!), I hung it up against a white-painted wall, and let me tell you, it's been a conversation starter ever since!

And oh, if you look closely, you'll see it's sharing wall space with my wooden pineapple piece - another story for another day!

So, besties, what about you? What are some of your favorite thrifty art finds? I'm all ears and can't wait to hear about your adventures in upcycling and home decor!

Stay inspired and keep turning the ordinary into extraordinary! 🌍✨🖼️

Vintage wood pineapple with removable lid and leaves, a unique thrift store find. | on the creek blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

You know me, right? Thrifting isn't just a hobby; it's my lifestyle! Our home is like a gallery of thrifted treasures. From the cozy nook in the living room to the quirky lamp in the hallway, each piece has a story, and more than 99% of them started their tale in a thrift store. 🏡💖

Now, let me tell you about this adorable wood pineapple with a removable lid and leaves. It's not just a piece; it's a conversation starter! I stumbled upon this gem while out and about on my thrift adventures.
My love for thrift shopping blossomed with the Habitat For Humanity ReStore opening in our area. Picture this: we had just gotten our new, larger home, and the ReStore became our go-to spot for all things home improvement. It's amazing how a place can inspire and fulfill your needs, right?

From there, my journey took me to yard sales – and oh, the joy of town-wide sales! Every yard sale sign is like a beacon, calling me to discover the next unique find. And let me tell you, this pineapple was one of those unforgettable finds!

I first shared this pineapple on my Instagram, and the love it received was overwhelming! So, here I am, giving you the full scoop. It's been with us for quite some time, a pre-house treasure. Its unique design with the removable lid and leaves adds such character. Yes, it's missing a leaf, but hey, that's the beauty of thrifted items – perfectly imperfect!

This pineapple adorned our den, which we recently transformed into our primary bedroom. Now, it's found a new home on a quaint desk under our staircase, looking cuter than ever!

A Simple Fall Porch | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

Check out my super simple last minute fall front porch using yard sale finds!

Happy Halloween!

I know I’m super late with the whole ‘fall porch’ trend, but better late than never, right?!

Honestly, I didn’t even know that I was going to do a fall porch until yesterday anyway!

The thing about our porch is that it isn’t a true front porch.  Our steps don’t run straight down like a normal porch.  Actually, lets back up a little bit…before we bought our house, our front porch didn’t even have a set of steps.  It was just doors that led to a porch.  No steps at all.  The entrance to the house was the side door with a tiny porch.  One of the first things we did when we purchased our house was to add steps to the front.  The easiest way to accomplish this was to just take off the railing & add steps to the side.
