Costume or Not, Here I Come!

So, guess what? I got Halloween night off work—talk about a last-minute treat! Looks like my festive Halloween tee is doubling as my costume this year. Hey, it's the spirit that counts, right?

Treat Bags on the Fly

James and I went into full-on treat bag assembly mode when we found out I'd be home. It's our first Halloween in the new place, so we're unsure how many little ghouls and goblins will appear. But let's be real—I'm secretly hoping to snag a bag or two of candy for myself!

A Punch Bowl's Second Act

P.S. Our "candy bowl" is actually a punch bowl I scored at the ReStore last week. Talk about repurposing!

Sending you all the creative vibes! 🌙✨ I

Happy Haunting! 🖤

Here’s a peek of what I picked up at the Habitat For Humanity ReStore last week!

photography board from an old cabinet door

I picked up this old cabinet door.  It doesn’t seem like much, but once I removed the last bit of hardware, it turned into a beautiful photography board.  I’ve been wanting to make my own photography boards for a while but when I saw this old door at the ReStore, I knew it would be perfect for photography.

This basket was too cute to pass up!  I bought it originally for making a fruit basket as a gift for Christmas, but I might keep the basket for myself!

old cookie sheet

My husband asked why I would want these old cookie sheets.  For photography backgrounds!

We needed some curtains for our front doors and these fit perfectly!  There were so many that we were able to put some on our bay window as well!

My mom is the best person.  She is my person; the person I want to be when I grow up.  She does so much in her life & makes it all look completely effortless.

One of her biggest effortless feats is cooking.  She’s a complete natural in the kitchen.  While I’m over here overanalyzing a recipe approximately 50 million times and pulling it up on my phone over and over, she can just throw some things together and come out with an amazing end result.  Even when the recipes are incredibly precise, she runs the kitchen with an ease I can only imagine doing myself.

I asked begged her to come to my house a couple weeks ago to help me make some grape jelly from the concords my husband and I bought.  My mother made the complex art of jelly making look completely easy and something that even I could do, which I totally won’t because when left unattended with a complicated task, my kitchen may burst into flames.  Even when things started moving fast in the kitchen and I was both internally and visibly freaking out, mom just kept going and never once lost her cool.  This round of grape jelly ended up being the best tasting to date and I have my mom to thank (as well as the wonderful concord grapes from the local vineyard!)

Having a mom like mine has totally spoiled me for life.  If this life makes me only half the woman she is, I’d say I would be doing great.  She inspires me every day to be the best version of myself.  Her effortless approach in the kitchen gives me confidence in my own cooking abilities.  Today, I’m even attempting to make slow cooker apple cider.  My kitchen might burn down, but at least I was confident for a short time!

It’s that time again:  my local Habitat ReStore is open for business this weekend!

Here are a few things I picked up 2 weeks ago when the ReStore was open:

Halloween Ghost & Pumpkin

Halloween Ghost

Halloween cutouts!  My mom still has her cutouts from when I was a kid & I was so excited when I found my own!  There were a ton of them too!  Because I couldn’t resist, I bought all of them.  This is just a very small sampling of the ones I picked up.

Plastic Cups

I can never find any cups around our house, so I bought some at the ReStore!  I have one beside me right now as I’m writing this.

Kevin Wall Decor

Even though I only know 1 Kevin (& he’s a rabbit!), this wall decoration was too cute to pass up.

As I’ve said a million times, I absolutely love the Habitat ReStore!

Fall is where it’s at right now!

pumpkin

I thought I was excited about summer, but I think I’m equally (if not more) excited for fall!  Fall is so easy to decorate for.  I just put some pumpkins out & fall arrived at our house.

I can’t get enough of pumpkins, corn stalks & everything else fall related. October is also my favorite month because HALLOWEEN!  I’m rocking my Halloween tablecloth as we speak!

The pumpkin pics are just a small sampling of what we’ve got going on for fall decor.
