Fall Sign Collection 2021 | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
My fall 2021 sign collection!

My fall sign collection is complete!

I had a lot of fun creating these signs.

I used three different wood cutout sayings & put them on to boards.

The most difficult part was coming up with a theme.  At first I was just randomly painting the signs whatever colors I wanted.  As the deadline for posting my signs for sale came closer, I knew I had to do something different.

I finally came up with a system that worked great for me.

First, I spent a day & stained everything.  To make it easier, I stained both the boards & the wood letters.  In the past I had painted the letters but staining them really was a time saver.

The next day, I worked on the boards.

hand painted wooden signs | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
I'm making hand painted wooden signs!

Things have been a little quiet over here on blog lately...that's because I have been making signs!

My sign making started on a whim when I found some random wood cutouts & thought they would make the perfect signs.

Because I had to buy the wood cutouts in bulk, I decided to sell some of the signs.

It has been a fun little hobby to keep me busy.  I'm trying to make a little side hustle out of it to get a little extra cash.

I'm releasing the signs in special edition releases.  In the fall release, I'll have 36 signs available.  Each sign is hand painted & unique.  I'm having a lot of fun trying out different color combinations.

I currently have 2 signs in the fall release complete.

'Fresh Cut Flowers' handmade sign with Cricut | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
A vintage inspired 'Fresh Cut Flowers'  sign.

I'm back with another sign!

After seeing how easy it was to create my 'Tomatoes' sign, I wanted to make another sign!

I took a slightly different approach with this sign.

I originally wanted to make another sign that looked like the 'tomatoes' sign but I didn't have any more of the old boards.

What I did have was a piece of thick pine board, so I decided to use that.  Because I wanted a square sign, I had my husband cut it down to size.

Once the board was cut, it was time to create the sign!

vintage inspired DIY tomatoes sign | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
A vintage inspired 'tomatoes' produce sign.

After planting so many tomatoes this year, I felt like I needed a sign to go with them!

I saw some vintage produce signs & wanted to make my own!

Sign making is something I want to start doing more.  It's a huge learning curve for me, though!  Because I have no artistic skills whatsoever, I can't just paint the lettering on!  I have to use a cutting machine to cut the letters out for me!

I bought a Cricut a few years ago & have used it maybe a handful of times.  The Cricut is also another huge learning experience!  I really need to just sit down & read the million tutorials there are on it!  So far, I've only used i
t to create basic things, like this sign!

Home decor trends

It seems that no matter where you go, you’ll find the same pieces of home decor.  I’m not usually one to follow trends, but the same ones over & over are difficult to miss!

After going to a few home decor stores over the weekend, I decided to gather together the things I’ve been seeing a lot of lately!
