A stained DIY of a bare wood sign!
I’m finally getting around to sharing this beautiful ‘Thankful’ sign!
I’ve been holding on to this project sign February! After walking past it every day for months, I thought I should finally share it! It’s normally hanging right above our front doors, but I brought it down so I could take close-up pictures of it!
I got this bare wood sign at Pat Catans. I love the cursive lettering! When I bought it, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do with it. All I knew was that it looked super cool!
After throwing around some ideas, I finally decided to stain the wood & paint the letters!
I used my Waterproofing Wood Stain. It has been a big year for this stain! After sitting in our basement for years, I finally brought it out & stained all the things with it! This sign was actually the first project I used it on! I then went on to use it on my rustic fence! I loved it so much I used it on my rustic wood path! I used it so much that I had to buy another gallon! It’s been super fun seeing the different things the stain can do!
Wood stain is one of my favorite things right now. I love the Waterproofing Wood Stain! It has a different texture than traditional stains & is water cleanup. I’m a huge fan of water cleanup! Anything to make my life easier! I also love to see the different colors that come about depending on the layers of stain. This sign is super light compared to my fence & path. I was super light on the stain for this project & super heavy on my outside projects!
While I was staining this sign, my husband had an idea. He suggested that I just stain the letters darker instead of painting them. I thought this was a neat idea & decided to try it. I kept putting the stain inside the letters until it got super dark. I ended up loving it!
I absolutely love how this sign turned out! The letters give off a subtle darkness & the sign looks great! I would definitely do this technique again!
