Blueberry picking at a local orchard!
A few weeks ago, my husband & I went blueberry picking!
The first time we went blueberry picking was a few years ago. We stumbled upon this road sign for blueberries & followed it to the most charming orchard! Since then, we always talked about going back there for blueberry picking again. For whatever reason, we never made it back there…until a few weeks ago!
The orchard is such a cute place! It’s someone’s personal home & orchard & it has a real down home feel. There are tons of blueberry trees! It makes me want to plant all the blueberry trees at our house! Maybe in a few years we’ll get around to it, but we’ll enjoy this orchard for now!
Blueberry picking is a lot of work! I never realized how small blueberries were until I tried to pick a bucket full of them! It takes quite a while to pick the perfect berries. Luckily, this orchard’s trees were full of them. The owner mentioned he had a party of 12 picking blueberries a couple days before we got there! Even though there were a lot of people before us, there were still plenty of berries left!
The both times we’ve been to the orchard it has been super hot out! By the end of our picking adventure, we were both a sweaty mess! The little blueberries made it worth the heat, though!
I intended to make a blueberry pie right away, but life got away from me. I then decided to freeze the berries & make a pie at my leisure. We ended up with a gallon freezer bag full of berries! That should be enough to make a delicious blueberry pie!
I really enjoy going to places off the beaten path. I’m so grateful we found this little place. I can’t wait to return there in the years to come & make delicious desserts with all the blueberries!
