seedless grape vines | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
Our grape vines have grapes!

During our first summer in our home we planted various varieties of seedless grape vines.

I had a great grape vine at my childhood home & I wanted my own grapes at our new home.

Over the last 5 years, I've watched our vines mature & spread out along the small fence we planted them on.

The vines never produced any grapes though!  It was weird not to have any grapes whatsoever after 5 years.

I gave up on them ever producing any grapes.  I know some grape vines take a long time, but 5 years is a really long time!

Then, one day my husband saw the vines were finally producing grapes!

I looked over the vines briefly & saw some little grapes coming on.  I didn't realize just how many grapes there are until I went to take pictures for this post.

White lilac // spring yard walk | On The Creek Blog
Come with me as I look over the various plants in our yard & see how they're doing after the winter!

It's time for my annual spring yard walk!

Come along with me as we tour my yard & see how the perennial plants are doing this spring!

This spring has been weird.  There were a couple late frosts & overall, everything was super late coming over here.

I've said this in my last yard walk, but I'm certain everything comes up just a little bit slower over here.  My lilacs haven't even flowered yet!

Here are the plants & how they're doing this year:

Does anyone else hold an annual address for the state of their yard plants?

Like intentionally walking around their yard, looking at all of their trees/plants to see how they've held up after the winter?

I think it's my new favorite yearly activity!  It's so cool to see all the perennial goodness!

Today, I'll be taking you along for the walk!

Grape Picking | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
Grape picking is a fun fall activity!

My husband & I have a tradition of making grape jelly every year.

It started with my father-in-law's grapes.  He passed away 5 years ago & left behind wild concord grapes growing on his property.

We don't take care of the grapes at all but noticed they were producing a lot of grapes.  We made jelly with the grapes a couple times when the crop was good.

This year the grapes didn't yield anything but we still wanted to make grape jelly.  For the first time, I found myself searching for vineyards that sell grapes.

We are lucky to live in a large grape growing area.  There are tons of vineyards & wineries.

I ended up finding a place that sells concord grapes not far from our house.
