Grape Picking

Grape picking is a fun fall activity!

My husband & I have a tradition of making grape jelly every year.

It started with my father-in-law's grapes.  He passed away 5 years ago & left behind wild concord grapes growing on his property.

We don't take care of the grapes at all but noticed they were producing a lot of grapes.  We made jelly with the grapes a couple times when the crop was good.

This year the grapes didn't yield anything but we still wanted to make grape jelly.  For the first time, I found myself searching for vineyards that sell grapes.

We are lucky to live in a large grape growing area.  There are tons of vineyards & wineries.

I ended up finding a place that sells concord grapes not far from our house.

We visited Covered Bridge Farms in Geneva, Ohio.  It is a family owned vineyard & hop yard.  They have 5 acres of concord grapes.

Covered Bridge Farms offers a u-pick option or you can buy already picked grapes at their stand.  We did the u-pick option & had a lot of fun.  Their vines are full of beautiful concord grapes.

I had a few concord grape vines when I was younger so it was very nostalgic for me to be in the vines!

Grape picking is a fun fall activity.  Once the grapes are picked, you can make a variety of things.  I love to make jelly with the grapes & hope to venture into winemaking in the future!

  1. We are glad you had a great time and your bounty was plentiful. Hopefully we will see you again next year, if your Father-in-laws wild concords do not produce.
