3 different ways to support tomato plants!
There are many ways to support tomato plants. In my 5 years of gardening, I've used a few different techniques to help my tomatoes stay off the ground & upright.
As a gardener, I'm always evolving & researching different ways to garden. Gardening is super interesting to me & I love looking at different ways to do things.
Today I'm sharing 3 ways to support tomato plants. I have seen all these methods in action & they all provide great support to tomato plants.
Tomato Cages
I used tomato cages during my first few years of gardening & had good luck with them. Granted, this was before I decided to add blood meal to my growing strategy so my plants stayed fairly small in the cage.
One good thing about tomato cages is that they're super easy to install. They are just put into the ground around the tomato & the support is done!
I've seen super fancy DIY tomato cages that provide more support. Personally, I've always just used the ones bought at the store. In my first years of gardening, I was all about making things as easy as possible so the store bought cages worked for me.

Tomato Stakes
I'm fairly new to the stake method for tomatoes, but my parents have great success with it in their garden every year.
One stake is used to support each tomato plant. Then, as the plant grows, string is tied around the plant to support it to the stake.
I really like this method because I feel like it saves a lot of space in the garden. Instead of allowing the plants to spread out, they are contained to their own stake.
