Stay Awhile

My thoughts on deciding to stay in our current home for the foreseeable future.

This November will mark 4 years at our home!

It’s difficult to believe it has been that long!

Of course, it took 7 months of extensive rehab before we could even move in, but we’ve owned this home for 4 years!

A couple months ago, I mentioned that we were staying in our house for a while & I wanted to finally elaborate on that a little bit today!

When we bought this house, we weren’t really thinking about the long term.  We just really wanted out of the small trailer we were living in!  With 500 more square feet (& a basement!), this house was perfect for us at the time!  It has served us well during the time we’ve lived here.

But as we’re getting older & thinking about long term plans, we started to see some pitfalls.  For one, our home has 7 stairs just to get in the front door.  That’s a lot of steps just to get into the house!

Another thing is that it only has two bedrooms.  That’s fine for a couple, but as we’re envisioning what our future family will look like, that might not work out for the long term.

But none of these things have to be decided immediately.  We still have a few years before any of these things become serious issues, so we decided to stick it out.  We’re in the situation where we can casually look around at other houses & try to find one that will better serve us.  If the time comes & we still haven’t found a house to buy, we just might have to build one that suits us!

Since there will not be a ‘for sale’ sign in front of our house any time soon, I decided to go all in with this house!  We’ll be working on a few maintenance issues we’ve been putting off (painting the kitchen cabinets again!)!  I’m also working on finding my decor style for this house & redecorating accordingly.

This post is really just a buffer for posts to come!  I’m excited to share the things we’ve been working on & the things to come!
