Little School Desk in the Kitchen

A little wood school desk! | On The Creek Blog
A little school desk in our kitchen!

Our home has an open floor plan.  While I love having the openness, there isn’t a lot of wall space to display, well, anything!

Over the years, I’ve become a surprise maximalist.  I go to yard sales & thrift stores & end up finding the coolest stuff.  I want to display all the things & an open floor plan makes that difficult!  I have to get seriously creative with displaying things!  I also have to keep approximate measurements of our walls in mind when I’m out shopping!

It takes a lot of thought to put anything in our home!  It usually involves a lot of moving things around a million times to find a better fit for them!

We recently added a larger furniture piece to our house (more on that in an upcoming post!), so a little rearranging was in order yet again!

We’ve had this little school desk for a long time.  It was most recently displayed underneath our staircase.  It’s super cute & I still wanted it displayed somewhere in our home.  We did a little rearranging & ended up putting it in the kitchen.  It’s kind of a weird place to put it but it works for now!  I think it fits the space pretty well & it was the best thing we could think of at the time!

The school desk itself is super cute.  It’s quite tiny & just the cutest thing!  I love the little chair!

You might remember my DIY chalkboard that’s on the wall there! Everything together gives me total school house vibes!

I dug the little chalkboard out from the basement.  It’s been in the basement for a while & was collecting dust so I’m giving it life!  It’s another thing I love & wanted to display.

Living in an open floor plan can have its disadvantages, but I’m making it work!
