An Unexpected Pumpkin Patch

Since it's #throwbackthursday, I thought it would be fun to take a trip back to last autumn...

Remember my fall ‘display’?

I wanted to spruce up the space on the side of our house so I gathered up my sewing tables & put pumpkins on them!  I thought it looked super cute for being such a last minute idea.

This year, I had no idea what to do with that area. Last year, I only thought of doing something in autumn, but this year, I had the entire season to figure out what to do. I thought of planting strawberries there or even just a simple flower bed.  In the meantime, we kept the area mowed & it was just basically part of our yard…until this happened:

It turned into a pumpkin patch!

After mowing that area several times, we noticed something growing there. Aaand they were pumpkins! Apparently, there were some rogue seeds from last year that turned into plants!  After every unintentional attempt to kill them with the lawn mower, they still grew!

These two plants have totally taken over the side of our house!  I’ve counted 10 flowers on the vines so far which means there are going to be a ton of pumpkins!

I guess that solves our ‘landscaping’ problem for this year!

PS:  I should probably mow the yard?!  Haha!
