Thoughts on dreaming big!

I was originally going to title this post 'The Sky is the Limit' but I thought I could do better than that.  Why should the sky be the limit anyway?  The sky can't possibly be the limit when there are footprints on the moon!

I watched the absolute best video on TikTok last week.  I'll post it below but here's the cliff notes:  An 8-year-old girl wrote a book & wanted to get it published.  Her mom, like most of us adults, are working in the confines of our adult mind so things like publishing a book seem super difficult.  The girl really wanted her book out in the world so she asked her school librarian if it could be put in the library.  The librarian then put a barcode on it & it's now available to be checked out!

I feel like we need more of this energy in the world.

Around the same time I saw this video, my son was talking about maybe writing a book.  He's hit a super creative streak recently & coincidentally, I have too.  I've been working on so much media stuff recently & I'm absolutely loving it.

Technology has come so far since I was a kid & the possibilities are pretty much endless on what you can do media wise.  Everything used to be clunky & difficult but now it's an absolute breeze to make my dreams come to life.  I was a super creative kid but I can only imagine how creative I would have been if this was all at my fingertips back then.

Since I've been dabbling into media creation, I want to share the knowledge with my son.  He's a super difficult boss so we'll see how far I can get!  I think it would be the coolest thing to see his words & pictures in print.

In preparation for this, I started looking around at places that can publish books.  I wanted a sample book where I could see what they actually look like all printed out...so I decided to make my own book!  It's just a simple gratitude journal but I can get a feel of what the pages & images will look like.  I'm hoping when my son sees my book in print, he'll want to make one too!

I ended up going through 2 different places to get my book printed.  I was just going to go through one place but the book wouldn't be ready until May 9.  I wanted a little faster turnaround so I went through another place & my book should be here sometime this week.  I think this also will give me a good idea on how each company prints their books.

I'll make sure to update you all when the books arrive!  I don't know anything about how they look yet so I don't want to start putting the company names out there.

But the point of this post is to dream bigger than you ever thought would be possible. If you can dream it, there's a good possibility you can figure out how to get it accomplished.  When I was a kid, I would have loved to see my silly little books in print!  I'm not going to lie though--as an adult, it's still super fun to get my own book professionally printed!
