Outdoor Chair Makeover

A cute old outdoor chair gets a painted makeover!

This summer has been all about finishing up projects.  Of course, there are still a million little projects still left to do, but we’re making progress!

One of the projects we completed this summer was this little chair makeover.  I don’t believe I ever shared it here, but this chair came from a set we bought at a yard sale last summer.  There was a larger chair that was part of the set.  I painted that last summer & lost steam when it came to this little chair.  The arm needed to be fixed & I never got around to it.

I finally decided to fix it up a few weeks ago.  It was time!  We were moving stuff around the yard & the chair couldn't be ignored any longer! My husband fixed the arm & then we scrubbed the chair in preparation for paint!
I came close to staining the chair.  It was looking that good after cleaning!  But, I wanted it to match the other chair, which was painted, so paint it was!

To paint the chair, I used Behr Deck Over in Slate.  To be honest, I’m the not the biggest Deck Over fan!  I like that it’s super thick & goes on easily.  It's also water clean up, which is my favorite. But I’m always worried about the wood underneath rotting away because the paint won’t allow it to breathe.  On my large chair that I painted last year, the paint is peeling off. I'm also not a fan of peeling paint!

But, I have a lot of the Deck Over left over, so I can't let it go to waste! I'm only going to use it on projects that I’m not worried about peeling or rotting though, like this chair!

I love this color & the depth it gives to the chair!  The paint does a dramatic transformation!  It also hides a lot of flaws that stain probably wouldn’t.

Overall, I’m incredibly happy with how the chair turned out!  I’m not sure how well this paint is going to work in the long term. That gives me an excuse to make over this chair again, though! For now, it's looking so good!
