Cherry Jam

Cherry JamI made this ridiculously easy Cherry Jam using a recipe I found over at Dessert For Two!  There’s only 2 ingredients & if I can make it, anyone can!

Making jam was not my…jam.

The jams & jellies that I knew always involved the canning process.  Canning has been one of those things that I try to avoid altogether. Just thinking about it makes me exhausted.  There’s so much going on at once with canning & my brain just shuts down.  I’m one of those people who have to recheck the recipe every 10 seconds so the fast paced world of canning intimidates me to no end.  I never thought that I could just make an easy small batch of jam…

Until last week.  I came across this recipe for Small Batch Strawberry Jam & my thoughts on jam making changed.  There isn’t a ton of fruit involved!  No pectin!  Only 2 ingredients!

I decided to give it a try.

With traditional canning, my kitchen could potentially burst in flames.  With this recipe, I could maybe ruin some strawberries.  With the risks being so low for this small batch jam, I had nothing to lose.  I got out one of my smaller stockpots & got to work.

Aaand it was amazing!  In 15 minutes, I had a jar of jam & my kitchen was all cleaned up!  The jam itself also tasted fantastic! It was so fresh!  I also wasn’t intimidated at all.  Things didn’t move too fast. Even with my limited jam making experience, I could still produce a quality result!

Because I can’t leave well enough alone, I began to think about the bag of cherries I had in the refrigerator.  I wondered if I could turn those into a jam as well?

I could!

I pitted & chopped my cherries & used the same fruit to sugar ratio as the original recipe.  In the end, I had perfect Cherry Jam!  And I didn’t burn my kitchen down!

Check out Dessert For Two for this life-changing recipe!
