How I Made A Summer Wreath From A Random Box Of Flowers

Summer Wreath | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

When I was at a yard sale a couple weeks ago, I scored an incredible deal on a huge box of silk flowers.

I need some summer wreaths for my front doors & thought these flowers would be perfect for the project.  I bought 2 wire wreath forms & got started…

That’s when I realized that I grossly overestimated the number of flowers it takes to make a wreath.

I’ll also admit that I didn’t look over the box very well when I purchased it because it was so cheap.  I now realized that these flowers were completely random combinations. They probably wouldn’t do well as a wreath.  There also was a centerpiece in the box that I didn’t notice. I wanted to keep that together, so my number of flowers was now limited. I put the box in the basement & forgot about it for a week.

But I still had the wreath forms sitting on my kitchen table, along with the floral wire & scissors.  I should have gathered them up & put them in the box with the flowers but I didn’t. I finally decided to give the box ‘one more look’ last week, just to make sure that all hope was lost in making a wreath.  I lugged the box back up from the basement & sat everything out.

Once everything was laid out, I thought that maybe I had enough stuff for one wreath?  I started putting things in the wreath form & tying it together with the floral wire.  Even though the flowers were a total hodgepodge, at least they all looked sort of summery.  I kept tying flowers & greenery together until I filled up the entire wreath.  By that time, I had used up pretty much all the flowers & I had a completely random, summer wreath!

I was just happy to use up the wreath form & box of flowers!
