Garden 2017 | Planting

garden tour 2017
Take a peek inside my garden!  I used my DIY raised garden beds as well as large planters to create a small yet functional garden for 2017!

It all started with a tomato plant & a pepper plant.
My parents got us a cute little planter with a tomato plant, a pepper plant & a marigold plant.  I dutifully watered my little planter & before I knew it, the tomato plant had gotten out of control.  It was a big fish in a small planter & the planter needed to be upgraded immediately.
Luckily, we found some oversized planters for super cheap at a yard sale. We could use them for our pepper & tomato plants! Our little garden would be complete…
Then we stopped over our neighbors’ house when they were planting their garden.  They shared that they got their plants for super cheap at a local greenhouse.
I guess I wasn’t done planting after all.

But, here’s the thing:  I’m not a garden person.  My husband & I have never had a garden in all the years we’ve been married.  Personally, I just never had the time or discipline for a garden…
Aaand here I am, with a garden!
Because you know I can’t leave well enough alone with anything, I decided to add a couple more plants into the mix. Since I already had the pepper & tomato going anyway, why not add a few more?
So we constructed some total DIY raised garden boxes, bought some dirt & we were ready to go! For the ‘dirt’, we used a combination of cheap topsoil, a potting mix & a peat moss/compost type of soil.

We planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash & stevia.
I’m excited to see how our first real garden is going to turn out!
Are you planting a garden this year?  I want to know all the details!
