My Journey with Sherwin Williams' Agreeable Gray | on the creek blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

Hello, dear readers! Today, I have a confession to make. I was skeptical of the ever-popular Sherwin Williams paint color: Agreeable Gray. But my recent experience painting the flip house has completely changed my mind.

The Initial Skepticism

For years, I've heard people sing praises of Agreeable Gray. It's often described as the "perfect neutral," a color that "goes with everything." But I was never convinced. I saw it everywhere, so the paint color just seemed overdone to me.

Enter Kevin from R.C. Nielson & Son Inc.

When it came time to paint our flip house, we needed professional help. That's when Kevin from R.C. Nielson & Son Inc. stepped in. He suggested Agreeable Gray, and although I was hesitant, I decided to trust his expertise.

The Technical Talk

Agreeable Gray is a warm, light gray with a soft undertone that leans towards taupe. Its LRV (Light Reflectance Value) is 60, making spaces look larger and more open. This color perfectly balances warm and cool tones, allowing it to pair well with a wide range of colors—from earthy hues to vibrant shades.

The Transformation

I watched the house transform as Kevin and his team worked their magic. The color added sophistication and calmness that I hadn't expected. It was as if the room had been waiting for this color all along.

The Verdict

I'm officially a convert. Agreeable Gray has made its way into my list of go-to paint colors, and I have Kevin to thank for that. It's versatile, elegant, and, yes, incredibly agreeable.

Final Thoughts

So there you have it, folks. Sometimes, it takes an expert's nudge to help us see the beauty in something we've overlooked. A big shoutout to Kevin from R.C. Nielson & Son Inc. for introducing me to the wonders of Agreeable Gray. I can't wait to use it in future projects!

our greenhouse paint & stain colors | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
The greenhouse paint & stain colors!

Picking the stain color for the greenhouse was quite the task!  Because the greenhouse was made with untreated wood, it needed to be stained.

It took me a long time to decide the stain color...& I'm technically still deciding.  Let me explain...

I really wanted to paint the greenhouse green but I wasn't sure how well that would vibe with the rest of the buildings on our property.  Our house is stained super dark but it's not really a color I want every other outdoor structure to be.

After going back and forth for what seems like forever, I finally went to the paint store to get more ideas.  At the time, I was thinking of just putting a natural color type of stain on the greenhouse & repainting it next year.

I went over what I wanted at the paint store & mentioned I wanted a super light stain.  They happened to have a gallon of white stain that someone didn't end up using & I thought it would work great for the greenhouse.
