Greenhouse Paint & Stain Colors

The greenhouse paint & stain colors!

Picking the stain color for the greenhouse was quite the task!  Because the greenhouse was made with untreated wood, it needed to be stained.

It took me a long time to decide the stain color...& I'm technically still deciding.  Let me explain...

I really wanted to paint the greenhouse green but I wasn't sure how well that would vibe with the rest of the buildings on our property.  Our house is stained super dark but it's not really a color I want every other outdoor structure to be.

After going back and forth for what seems like forever, I finally went to the paint store to get more ideas.  At the time, I was thinking of just putting a natural color type of stain on the greenhouse & repainting it next year.

I went over what I wanted at the paint store & mentioned I wanted a super light stain.  They happened to have a gallon of white stain that someone didn't end up using & I thought it would work great for the greenhouse.

Staining the greenhouse took forever.  I hate painting/staining large areas & the greenhouse was a lot.  At one point we tried using our paint sprayers.  It made the process faster but I feel like the stain really didn't soak in to the wood.  Throughout the summer, I went back & put another coat of stain on different areas with a paint brush.  I tried to get the front really good because that's what is seen the most.

I still might paint the entire greenhouse next year.  I just wanted to get a protective coat on the greenhouse before the wood started rotting.  With the greenhouse being white, it will be super easy to paint over if I want to.

Picking the paint color for the windows & door was super easy.  I have a go to off white color that I paint almost everything with.  It's the same color I painted the pergola & I love it so much.  It seems like the color goes well with everything.

My style is always changing so we'll see what happens with the greenhouse next year!  I have a few more things to do to get it ready to be an actual greenhouse but I've been having fun decorating it in the meantime!
