Hi! Hello! Welcome!
I'm Tiffanie & I'm so glad you made it to my little internet space! Also, no need for formalities; please just call me Tiff!
I'm a writer, blogger, published author, photographer, & content creator (say that 10 times fast!). If you can't tell already, I like to try all the things...usually at once! I take any chance I get to be creative.
I originally started my blog, On the Creek, in 2015 to document our home renovation journey. My husband, James, & I bought a foreclosure in need of lots of love. We completely renovated the home from top to bottom. It was a great adventure & I will always cherish that we were able to have our home ownership journey together this way.
James had an extensive background in carpentry, construction, & home remodeling, so we always hoped to renovate more homes together. We got our chance in 2019 when we helped my parents with their flip house.
James & I were married for 14 years. We were both from the same little town, but James was a few years older, so we didn't officially connect until 2006. We were married in 2007 & were planning on spending our lives together.
We began our journey into parenthood when we became
licensed foster parents in 2019. We had a few placements & were able to adopt our son in December 2021!
Sadly,
James passed away in December 2021 from
metastatic melanoma. It was a 7-month journey that I never thought would be part of our story together. I never imagined I would become a new mom & a widow all in the same month, at 34 years old. Since then, I've been
trying to find my purpose alone after being part of a partnership for 15 years.
Some quick facts about me:
- I still live in the rural town I grew up in. I love it so much. The outpouring of support from our community during James's cancer journey was immeasurable.
- I grew up on a hobby farm. We had goats, horses, chickens, & other various animals. While I loved it, I didn't carry on with farming. But, as of the summer of 2022, I can live my farming dreams vicariously through my neighbor cows & horses!
- I started gardening about 6 years ago & it's my favorite thing. It has its ups & downs, but I love seeing what grows yearly! I'm trying to get my son into gardening, but he's not enthusiastic about it! Haha.
- I love shopping at the thrift store! If I had to guess, I'd say about 95% of my home decor is thrifted! We also bought a ton of materials for our
actual home remodel from the Habitat For Humanity ReStore.
- To go along with the thrifting, I also like to do what I call 'trash to treasure' makeovers. James helped me so much with
these projects. It's so neat to see something get a beautiful transformation.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at On The Creek Blog! You can also connect with me on social media!
