We're building a greenhouse!I was going to wait until our greenhouse was complete to share it here but I just couldn't wait any longer!
We've been working on this little greenhouse for a while now & I'm loving how it's turning out.
With the price of lumber skyrocketing, I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to build a greenhouse this year but we made it happen. We ended up purchasing rough cut lumber from a local sawmill which saved us quite a bit of money.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's go back to the beginning of this project!
We started off by leveling the area with stone. The plan is to cover the entire area by the greenhouse with stone. I hate mowing that area & want to turn it into a flower garden. We still need to get more stone but the area right around the greenhouse is covered & level.
Next, we built the platform that the greenhouse will be on.
Then it was time for the walls. The walls are super tall because I wanted to use old doors in the greenhouse which are a lot taller.

Once the walls were built, we framed in the walls & roof. Then we added the siding. We just used more rough cut lumber for the siding.
I was originally planning on using all old windows for the sides of the greenhouse but decided to use plastic pieces instead. It will be a lot easier to install the plastic pieces.
Here's a view of the front. We were originally going to have the front without the windows but I thought it looked too plain that way. Since we already had windows that we weren't using, we cut out windows for the front. I think they're the cutest thing! We even added hinges to the windows so that we can open & close them!
I love the door too. It was a find from a local craftsman & I think it's so pretty.
We still have a lot to do but we're getting there! I can't wait to update you on our progress. If you have any questions about the greenhouse, just leave me a comment & I'll answer them on a future post!
