A life update for January 2021!
I thought it would be fun to bring back my 'Life Lately' posts in 2021! I really missed writing them & having something to look back on.
This year, I'm combining my 'Life Lately' posts with my 'Link Love' posts to make one monthly post.
Let's get started!
January
It's the new year! While I'm not really one for resolutions, I like to reflect a lot & work on myself a little bit.
A couple things I'm working on are letting go of expectations & setting realistic goals. In the past, it seemed like I was always setting myself up to fail & I hated it. I'm trying to be more easygoing this year & not let things bother me so much!
TV
I unintentionally started watching a lot of medical related shows in January!
Virgin River - I finished season 2 of Virgin River. I hope it comes back for a 3rd season because it had a couple cliffhangers!
The Resident - A few years ago I watched the first season of The Resident & then kind of gave up on it. Then it came on the tv one night & reignited my curiosity so I'm giving it another go. I'm still on season 2, but I'm loving it so far!
Resident Alien - This is a total new show for me. We have Hulu with live TV & this came on our main page one night & I decided to check it out. It's a little more gritty but the first episode has me hooked!
Health Journey
The term health journey makes me laugh but I don't know what else to call it! I'm usually the last person to do anything healthy, so starting healthier habits is so weird to me. It's not much & I've been starting super slow.
I started typing up everything but I then I realized it could probably turn into a post of its own, so I'll work on that in the future! Just know that I'm not a professional & have only been making small changes!
Foster Care
Foster care continues to be weird.
We currently have one longish term placement with us. Before this placement, we ended up disrupting our previous placement. I want to talk more about that experience but I'm not sure if it's something I can even do, let alone something you'll want to read. Personally, I've wanted to read about placement disruptions, but that might be just me?
I will say that foster care is such a unique experience that it's difficult to generalize it. You see similarities within placements, but each case is so unique.
We're just enjoying the time we have with our kiddo!
Vintage
I'm possibly going to be doing a lot of vintage inspired items sales this year!
This really comes more as a necessity. We have a lot of accumulation in our basement & I want to get rid of it! It's mostly furniture project pieces I wanted to work on & lost interest in. Once I get rid of those, I can start bringing in only things I can realistically accomplish! It goes back to my yearly focus of setting realistic goals & letting go of the things I'll never finish.
I also want to get my work area set up a little better. Now it's just a drab space that I don't even feel like working in!
Garden
I'm super excited about gardening season! I'll have a post together soon of some of the things I bought already for my 2021 garden!
I really wanted to build a greenhouse this year but I don't think it's happening. My husband & I actually sat down & calculated the cost of the exact greenhouse I wanted to build. With the increasing lumber prices, it ended up being way more than I wanted to spend this year.
Once we clear out the basement, I'll probably end up seed starting in there. I want to start seed starting no later than April 1st, so I have a lot of work to do before then to get the basement ready!
Reading
Even though I'm a Little Free Library steward, I really don't do a lot of reading!
I decided to change that in January. It's not much, but I read one book last month. I started on another book last night that I'm super into & hope to finish soon. I used to love reading, so I'm hoping to bring the love back!
So that was a peek into my life in January 2021!
