For my first official post this year, I want to share why I will be continuing to blog in 2021.
I have been blogging here at On The Creek for 5 years now! I almost can't believe it! I began this blog to document our home renovation journey. Since then, it has evolved into all things home. I love featuring projects & gardening adventures around our property.
Every year, I like to sit down & think about if I want to continue blogging. It is a lot of work & if I'm being honest, some days I don't want to do it anymore. When it comes down to it, though, I genuinely enjoy blogging, so I'm making it work in 2021!
I'll also be featuring a couple of my favorite 2020 posts throughout this post!
Why I want to blog in 2021
There are a few reasons I want to continue blogging in 2021:
- Sharing my adventures
I like to share the things I do around our home. I love trying out new hobbies. I have a couple new hobbies that I'll be getting into in 2021 that I'll be sharing as well. I couldn't imagine not sharing anymore!
Documenting & sharing my adventures also allows me to look back & see the fun things I've done!
- Longer format
I love the longer format blogging allows. Sometimes I can't fit all my thoughts in a single Instagram post. A lot of the things I do have several layers & I can explain it a lot better in a blog post.
Using a longer format also will also let me share my projects with a larger audience for a longer amount of time. I like sharing my posts on Pinterest & it's so fun to see people looking at posts for a few years ago. I love that the information is still useful!
How I'm making blogging easier in 2021
If I wanted to continue blogging in 2021, I knew I had to make it easier. In this season of life, I have a lot on my plate. I didn't want blogging to be one of those things that takes hours every day because I just don't have the time for it.
Here's what I'm doing to make blogging easier:
- Automate as much as possible
Because of my working style & time restraints, I knew I needed to automate as much as possible. That way, I can do my blog work when time allows & schedule things in advance.
In the coming weeks & months, I'll share my favorite tools for automating my blog!
- Easier blogging schedule
I knew I needed an easier blogging schedule in 2021. In the past, I would get overambitious with my blogging schedule & try to do too many things at once. I would end up being overwhelmed & not posting anything at all! This year, I'm setting an easier schedule that I can stick to.
- Set blogging hours
Along with an easier schedule, I'm taking it easier on the actual amount of time spent blogging. Previously, I would set ridiculous time goals for myself & I would fail every.single.time. This year, I set only a few hours aside every week for blogging.
After all these years, I still love blogging. With this plan, I can continue blogging in 2021 & beyond!
