Easy DIY Dry Erase Board

This is a super simple DIY! An old picture frame is given new life as a dry erase board!

I'm all about keeping it simple in 2021.  My first DIY was no exception. I took an old picture frame & turned it into a super cute dry erase board.

I also created a little video of the process that I put on my Instagram if you want to check it out!

Why A Dry Erase Board?

So why did I want to make a dry erase board?

For Christmas, we got our foster kiddo The 2021 Almanac of Fun Book + Calendar Set. It's packed full of fun activities & lists weird holidays. I thought it would be a fun activity to work through together.

I wanted a place to write down the holidays & what was coming up in the book for the month. A dry erase board seemed like the perfect way to write everything down.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I sourced my house to find everything!

Instructions

I took an old picture frame that I already had. It still had the glass intact, which is perfect for a dry erase board.

To update the frame, I removed the glass & painted the frame with Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Homestead Blue.

Because my frame didn't have a backing, I had my husband cut a board we already had from another project.

Then, once everything was dry, we put in the glass & the backing piece. The dry erase board was done!

Final Thoughts

Because I'm all about simplicity this year, I loved that this project only took a short time to complete. It also got the frame out of my basement!

In the future, I might add some paper to the backing to dress it up a little but I'm fine with it for now.

This will be great for our 2021 Almanac of Fun journey!
