Using Different Filters to Reimagine Old Photos
Different filters can totally transform photos! I’m sharing some photos I took in the past with new filters on them & talking about my ever evolving photography journey!
My photography journey is always evolving.
Since I’m self taught, I’m constantly trying out new things in both actual picture taking & in editing.
A lot of it has to do with time—it used to take me forever to edit photos. While I enjoyed it for the most part, I really hated sitting at the computer for hours & hours! I also hated that it took me so long to get the pictures back to my clients. Granted, it wasn’t so long (a week at most), but since I’m probably the most impatient person ever, I wanted things done more quickly.
Then I discovered Lightroom & my world changed forever. I’ll admit—I resisted using Lightroom for a long time. Maybe I had a problem using something that could make my life 1000% easier? Haha! But seriously. Lightroom makes everything so much easier & streamlined. I can edit photos anywhere. I love editing photos using my tablet!
One of my absolute favorite things to do is go back & reedit pictures I’ve taken in the past & Lightroom makes that soo easy. All I have to do is go back to my albums & my pictures are there waiting to be edited again.
As my techniques are evolving, I’m always discovering new filters to use & making my own filters. It’s truly amazing what a filter can do for a photo. It can totally transform the mood & colors. It can turn a picture into something completely different than what it was!
I recently went back & reedited some photos I took last fall for a senior session using different filters (They’re featured throughout this post!). I love the moody look the filter gave these photos!
For me, it’s essential to keep evolving & trying out new things! I’m looking forward to taking more pictures this year & seeing what filters can do for them!
