Little Free Library | on the creek blog // www.onthecreekblog.com

My Little Free Library celebrated its third anniversary in May!

I love little free libraries so much. They are essential because they increase access to books, particularly for those needing more resources to purchase them. Little Free Libraries also serve as community gathering places, promoting a sense of belonging and connection among neighbors. Additionally, they encourage a love of reading and lifelong learning, which is essential for personal growth & success.

I absolutely love it when I go out to my library & see new books. It's so fascinating to see the different book genres placed in the library. One of my favorite things is finding great books at thrift stores to put in the library.

My little free library got a little makeover over the spring. After moving it around, I finally settled on a place at the front of my garden path. I wanted something accessible while still allowing comfort. I set up a couple chairs behind the library for people to sit & read if they wish. But who am I kidding? I will be the first one out there sitting & reading!

10 Things I Love About Little Free Libraries | On The Creek Blog // www.onthecreekblog.com
10 things I love about Little Free Libraries!

Little Free Libraries are my jam. I have so much love for them that I established my own Little Free Library! I get so excited when I go out to my library & see different books! I was afraid that people wouldn't use the library, but it's a hit! I love that we were able to provide an area for people to access free books.

Over the weekend, I spotted a Little Free Library in the wild & was reminded all over again how beneficial these little book boxes are for communities.

I also think they are just the cutest things!

I love them so much that I made a list of 10 reasons why!

Details on building a Little Free Library!

I can't believe I've had my Little Free Library in use for over a year now!

Building a Little Free Library was a dream come true for me.

I think it's important to bring books into communities that don't have easy access to libraries.  I live in a rural area where the nearest library is several miles away.  I saw a need for a library & made it happen.

In a funny twist, in the time it took me to install my library, our township also installed a lending library so our small town has two libraries!  I love it!

This post is about the logistics of Little Free Libraries.  I hope it inspires you to make your own!

We built a Little Free Library®!

Having a Little Free Library has been a dream of mine & it finally came true!

We actually completed this project in January but it took a while to get this little library in our yard!

Since we have harsh winters in our area, I wanted to wait until spring before we brought the library outside.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit & I was unsure if it would be the right time to open.

Finally, I decided to open (with precautions) a few weekends ago!

I love Little Free Libraries & I think they're just the cutest!
