An old corn husk wreath gets a spray painted refresh!
I bought a couple corn husk wreaths for my doors from Pat Catan's many years ago. Over the years, they have accumulated a some mold from being outside year after year. They weren't very pretty looking anymore.
I was just going to throw the wreaths away this year but since I'm all about reusing & repurposing, I decided to give them a makeover!
I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I wanted to spray paint them. I had some gold spray paint left over from another project. I thought the corn husk wreaths would look good in that color so I decided to give it a try.
My husband helped me put a quick couple coats of spray paint on both sides of the wreath. The gold spray paint we had was just a little bit darker than what the corn husk wreath was originally so it wasn't that big of a difference.
When the spray paint dried, I could really tell a difference in the appearance of the corn husk wreaths. Instead of being dull & moldy, the paint covered everything & left them super shiny. I think the wreaths look more elegant this way.
Spray painting the corn husk wreaths was a super cheap fix to something I was just going to throw away. I have no idea how well they will hold up, but they got me through one more year!
