Pumpkin Carving 2020

Pumpkin carving 2020!

For the first time in forever, we carved pumpkins for Halloween!

This is the first year we've had a kiddo in our house for Halloween.

He's been super excited about Halloween for weeks!  He's been counting down the days until his class party & actual Halloween.

To celebrate, we carved pumpkins last weekend.  Our kiddo drew out his pumpkin face & my mom carved it out.  He also drew on all sides of another pumpkin & my mom cut all the sides out!  My mom didn't even get a chance to carve her own pumpkin!

The funny thing is, we didn't even use our own homegrown pumpkins for carving!  My parents go to a produce auction almost every year & buy pumpkins from local farms.  The pumpkins they got this year were gigantic & had thick skins!  Because of that, they were super difficult to cut out (I ended up having my husband cut mine out!).  We managed to get everything cut out, though!

When we were done carving them at my parents' house, my mom put real candles in them for a short time.  They looked great!  Our kiddo is insisting we put candles in them tonight, so I'll see what flameless options we have.
