Garden | August 2020

Garden update for August 2020 | On The Creek Blog

Garden update for August 2020!

When I was going through my pictures from August, I found out I only took pictures of the tomatoes!  I'll give you the update on everything else, but I guess you will only see the tomatoes!

The tomatoes really showed up in August!

I will have to do another post about all the harvesting because it was a lot!  Even though I'm not the biggest fan of canning, we ended up canning quite a bit of pasta sauce & salsa!

The peppers did great this year!  We were able to add quite a few of them to our pasta sauces.  We also made stuffed peppers a couple times.  I liked that they didn't come on all at once!

The zucchini & cucumbers came to an end.  We were able to get a couple from each in August & that was that!  The little squash plant that came on late is still coming.  Because of the low temperatures we've been having, I don't think it will make it to maturity, but we'll see!

The corn was a bust this year.  It wasn't doing too well to begin with.  We planted it in a really wet area & it was struggling.  Then, some animals showed up (we're thinking raccoons or deer) & ate every single ear of corn!  The stalks are still there, so we might be able to salvage them to display for fall.

Speaking of fall displays, the pumpkins are almost ready!  I'm not exactly sure how many we have because they're hidden behind the leaves, but it looks like quite a bit.  We're probably going to pick them all this weekend!
