Garden 2019 | Planting

Planting tomatoes in the garden | On The Creek Blog

Planting the 2019 garden!

For the garden this year, I stuck to my favorites:  tomatoes & peppers!

This year we returned to the local greenhouse to buy all of our plants.

For tomatoes, I got the San Marzano variety.  I tried them last year & am trying them again this year.  I got a different variety of Roma tomatoes this year.  The ones last year were very seedy & I wasn't a big fan.  I'm hoping to avoid that this year!

For peppers, I went with one variety: the Sweet Bell.  I've never tried them before, but they looked great so I took a chance!

I also added muskmelon & watermelon to the garden for the first time this year.  I'm anxious to see how they turn out!

In the end, we decided just to use the same garden area as last year.  The original plan was to use this garden for new things.  We'd then put the tomatoes & peppers in a new, separate garden.  When we started planting the garden this year, we realized we would have enough space left over to plant the peppers & tomatoes so we just did that.

Hopefully we'll have a good crop this year!  After last year's garden failure, I'm going in this year super cautious but I'm excited to get things growing!
