Milk Can Makeover

Milk can makeover using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Country Grey

Check out my milk can makeover!

Every year at the end of summer, my family has a huge yard sale.  I always think it will be the perfect opportunity for my husband & I to get rid of the accumulation of stuff in our basement but we can never get my act together in time!

We actually tried a little harder this year & managed to get a lot of stuff out to the sale & sold a lot of it.  Of course, there is still a lot of stuff that didn’t make it in time, but it’s a lot better than what it was!

One of the first things on my mind to sell were these milk cans.  There are actually two of them, even though I only took pictures of one.  I picked them up at a yard sale with the intent to spray paint them a more neutral color.  That was forever ago!  On my way to the basement I had a change of heart & decided to give them a makeover instead!

I really wanted to spray paint them, but I didn’t have any on hand.  Because I’m the most impatient person ever & didn’t want to wait for spray paint, I decided to see what paint I already had.

So…funny story!  Over the spring/early summer I had a brilliant idea to repaint my kitchens cabinets an entirely new color.  Once I bought the paint, I realized just how difficult it was to paint kitchen cabinets in your place of residence!  When I painted the cabinets the first time, we weren’t living in our house yet, so it was easy peasy.  I just set up some saw horses in the living room to put the cabinet doors on & it was done in no time at all.  On my second attempt, I painted a few easy cabinets & then my kitchen sat in two tone purgatory for probably a month before I decided just to paint everything back  the original color.

Even though I’m completely happy with my decision on not painting my kitchen cabinets, this fiasco left me with 2 large cans of paint that I had to use somewhere.  I decided to start with the milk cans.

The paint I used is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Country Grey.  I was super skeptical if this paint would cover my milk can because the can is metal, but it worked great!  After two coats of paint and some wax, the milk cans look fabulous!

I’m so glad I changed my mind & decided to make over these little milk cans!
