6 Wall Styling Ideas

Some ideas on how to style walls with shelves & frames!

As I’ve said before, our house has very little wall space.  Actually, that’s not entirely true.  Our house does has a ton of walls & space on those walls…it just goes straight up!  Like 30ft up!

What I hate is that the walls are super choppy & not lengthy at all, so putting furniture is a total hassle.  I had to basically shove my command center in that tiny wall!  Even though I want to put a ton of cabinets everywhere, it’s starting to look a little crowded, so I’m trying a new approach—putting decor on the walls instead!

I’m starting off super small.  This is a corner wall in the front of our house, beside the fireplace.  Things got weird when we got a pellet stove this winter & couldn’t pipe it out of the fireplace, so it’s sitting right beside it!  Super weird, but it works for now.

The wall space that I have to work with on the left goes up about 6ft from the pellet stove.  In front of the stove, I could stop it even with the left side, or keep going up.  I’m thinking I’m going to stop the front decor with the left wall, but I’m not sure.  If this goes well, I might continue my decor around the fireplace & straight up.  For right now, though, I’m focused on that little corner.

When deciding on how to style my walls, I of course went over to Pinterest & created a board!  As this project moves forward, I’ll probably be adding a ton more pins to my ‘wall styling’ board!

I also came up with a few styling ideas that I’m sharing today.  I’m still undecided on what I’m doing, but I think I’ve narrowed it down to six options:

1.  Shelves on one side.
One side of shelves & a blank wall on the other side.

2.  Shelves on both sides.
Both sides with shelves, most likely coming together at the corner of the wall.

3.  Pictures on both sides.
A picture or two on both sides.

4.  Gallery wall on both sides.
A gallery wall of several pictures & frames on both sides.

5.  Shelves on one sides & gallery wall on other side.
Shelves going up on side of the wall & a gallery wall on the other wall.

6.  Mix of gallery wall & shelves on both sides.
A mixture of shelves & frames on both sides of the wall.

I’m still super undecided, but I’m excited to start this project!  Which idea is your favorite?
