My New Favorite Photo Editing App

Lightroom is my favorite app for editing photos!

Lightroom is hands down my favorite photo editing app!  It makes editing so much easier!  Check out the reasons I love Lightroom & see some before+after pictures in this post!

Happy New Year!  Welcome to 2019, where I’m trying to simply my life as much as possible!  One of the ways I’m simplifying is by cutting my photo editing time!  But, first, a little backstory:

Sometimes I like to play my life on ‘hard mode’…

Well, it’s probably more like 90% of the time, but who’s keeping track?!  Haha!

What I mean is that I usually do things the hard way for way longer than I should.

One of the things that I was doing the hard way was photo editing.

I had a very terrible system that involved uploading my photos to 2 different web editing apps.

Here was my process:

- Upload photo to App 1 for straightening (because I hated the way the app 2 straightened my pics!).
- Save photo
- Upload photo to App 2.  Make editing changes to individual photo.
- Save photo
- Multiply x million!!!

Between the app load times & editing changes to each photo, I was spending approximately a million years editing photos!  This was also all done on my desktop computer, so I was sitting there editing for hours at a time!

I tried Lightroom in the past but didn’t really like it.  I just didn’t get it.

My turning point came with some presets.

If you don’t know, presets are basically an editing ‘formula’.  You put in your editing stuff (brightness, contrast, temperature, etc.) & save it to a preset.  Then all you have to do is click on your preset to add your ‘formula’ to your photos.

One of my favorite bloggers, Liz Marie, started selling Lightroom presets & I wanted to try them out.  I downloaded Lightroom to my phone & computer & started experimenting with the program & Liz’s presets.

My world was forever changed.

I realized I could use this one program for everything.  Since I have Lightroom downloaded to my computer, I can just upload my pictures right there & get to work.  I don’t have to wait for pictures to upload to the internet.  The preset feature has also saved me soo much time.  With one click, my photos are completely edited & I can move on to the next photo!

I don’t even have to worry about saving each photo right away!  Lightroom saves my edits on each photo so I can save them individually or all at one time.  I especially like saving them all at once so I can go back at the end & make more changes if I want before it’s saved!

The pictures are also synced with any Lightroom app I use, meaning I can access the pictures on my phone & tablet!  I can then edit them from anywhere!  I love editing pics on my tablet!

In the short time that I’ve been using Lightroom, I’ve already made a ton of presets that I use on a daily basis!  All of the photos you see here in the ‘after’ pics were edited using one of my presets.

I’m still learning & working on my editing technique with Lightroom.  While I like these presets now, I love that I can change them up anytime I want!  I can also download tons of presets made by others to use on my photos!

Presets are all the rage right now.  I hear it’s super important to create a cohesive theme for your blog/Instagram pictures & presets allow you to make all of your pictures look the same with minimal effort.

Downloading Lightroom has been such a game changer for editing photos!  I wish I had done it sooner!
