Garden 2018 | Raised Garden Bed

After the garden success of 2017, I’m feeling pretty confident in my garden abilities.  So confident that I decided to do a much larger garden this year.

I knew I wanted to do a raised garden again this year, so I used some railroad ties as the base of the garden.  Instead of tilling up an area, I decided to use topsoil & a manure/peat mix.  This was the combo I used last year & it worked amazing, so I wanted to replicate it again this year.  By using plastic for the bottom & the dirt mix, I should avoid any weeds in the garden!

I got lazy at the end of the season last year & didn’t take care of my little garden beds, so the soil had a ton of weeds in it at the beginning of this season.  I’m hoping to avoid that this year by thoroughly going through the beds at the end of this season & maybe even covering up the garden.  I’m not going to let that expensive soil go to waste this year!

The next step is to head to my local place to get plants!  I can’t wait!  I’m thinking lots of tomatoes & some peppers, but we’ll see what I find!

PS:  Here’s a funny picture of me!  I was on my way to a bridal shower when I threw on my barn boots & quickly took these photos.  Here I am in my “farm casual” look!  Haha!
