Garden | July 2020
Garden update for July 2020!
The garden was thriving during July!
Tons & tons of tomatoes are starting to take shape!
Because the tomato plants began super tiny, I wasn't sure what harvest time would look like. Well now I know...harvest time is going to look awesome!
There are so many tomatoes coming on right now. They should be ready for harvest very soon. Then the busy time will begin--processing all the tomatoes. I'm thinking tons of pasta sauces! Because I'm not a huge fan of canning, I'll most likely be freezing the tomatoes. It looks like we'll have to buy another freezer because the garden is so plentiful!
We also have plenty of peppers! We've already harvested a couple peppers & more are coming in! I finally put a little blood meal on the peppers a few weeks back & they started really taking off.
The zucchini & cucumbers are coming to an end. We got a pretty decent harvest of both & now the plants are slowly dying. I'm working on canning some pickles. I want to make a zucchini bread, but we've been frying up zucchini slices in the meantime. We also harvested quite a few green beans & they're still producing!
I mentioned in my June garden update that we had a row of old seeds that didn't produce. Well, one squash plant did end up coming up! We have no idea what it is, but we're thinking it's probably butternut squash. I can't wait to see what it is!
Our corn has been a little slow going. The stalks are super small, but there are a few ears coming. It wasn't the harvest we were expecting, but I'll take what I can!
I didn't take any pictures of the pumpkins, but they're doing great! It looks like we'll have tons of pumpkins to display & sell in the fall!
We're in the thick of harvest time & the garden is doing great!
