It's tomato harvest season again & I've upgraded my tomato processing game using a tomato strainer machine.

I was lucky enough to find a super nice tomato strainer machine at the thrift store last winter & I couldn't wait to use it this year.

I did around a 5-gallon bucket full of tomatoes & things moved quickly, thanks to the sauce-making machine!

Making tomato puree using a tomato strainer machine is a relatively straightforward process that can be broken down into several steps.

Step 1: Wash and Prepare the Tomatoes

Start by washing the tomatoes in cool water to remove dirt or debris. Once clean, remove the stems and cut the tomatoes into smaller pieces to fit into the strainer machine.

Step 2: Run the Tomatoes Through the Strainer

Next, run the tomato pieces through the strainer machine. The machine will separate the tomato skins and seeds from the pulp, leaving you with a smooth tomato puree.

Step 3: Cook the Puree

Once you have your puree, you can cook it down to your desired consistency. If you plan on using the puree for a sauce, cook it longer to thicken it. A shorter cooking time may be sufficient if you use it for a soup or other recipe.

Step 4: Store the Puree

Finally, once your puree has reached your desired consistency, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. If you plan on freezing the puree, leave some headspace in the container to allow for expansion during freezing.
