I’m finding my home decor groove in our home! See what I’m doing to make decorating easier for me!
It has taken quite a while to find my home decor groove in this house.
After making the decision to stay in our home for the near future, I’ve really started to concentrate on decorating it to the max!
A tiny bit of it has to do with the fact that we’re staying here & I want the house to look awesome!
The majority of it, however, is the home decor nightmare that is our basement!
I talked about it in my last post, but our basement is basically a catch-all for all of my thrift goodness. When I buy things, they go down to the basement & disappear forever!
In an effort to clear the basement, I’ve been slowly trying to incorporate those things in the main areas of our home.
This house really doesn’t make it easy, though! With our home being open floor plan, we have a bunch of little walls everywhere. I have to be either super strategic with furniture or just live with oversized pieces everywhere! I was really struggling with trying to figure everything out when I realized something…
The choppy walls are just vignettes! Instead of trying to decorate an entire room around the tiny walls, the walls could be their own little thing. Of course, I want to bring everything together, but each wall can be its own vignette.
And I love vignettes!
Instead of trying to fight the small walls, I need to use them to my advantage!
Another huge thing that changed my perspective on this house is that I can move things around! I don’t know why it took me so long to realize that things are not stuck to the wall forever! They can keep rotating around if they’ll work better somewhere else!
Over the weekend, I did a little country/rustic vignette in the bathroom. I think it looks super cute for now, but I’m always looking for ways to make things better.
Having things where I can visually see them every day has been helping me so much! I tend to forget about things once they’re in the basement, so this visual reminder is giving me life!
I finally think I’m realizing my home decor vision for this home!
