My fall sign collection is complete!
I had a lot of fun creating these signs.
I used three different wood cutout sayings & put them on to boards.
The most difficult part was coming up with a theme. At first I was just randomly painting the signs whatever colors I wanted. As the deadline for posting my signs for sale came closer, I knew I had to do something different.
I finally came up with a system that worked great for me.
First, I spent a day & stained everything. To make it easier, I stained both the boards & the wood letters. In the past I had painted the letters but staining them really was a time saver.
The next day, I worked on the boards.
Instead of choosing all different colors, I picked 3 or 4 of my favorites for this collection. I had some Fusion Mineral Paint left over from some other projects that I used on the boards. I really love the paint colors Fusion has to offer. The colors I used on these boards were Bayberry, Bedford & Sacred Sage.
Once the boards were painted, I gave them a distressed look. I love how even though the colors were the same, the boards look different after distressing. The thing about my fall collection is that no two boards are alike.
I also left a few boards with the stain on them.
The next day, I worked on the letters. Some I left with only the stain on them & paired them with some of the lighter painted boards. The rest I did in my collection colors & paired them with boards that would color coordinate with them. Then the words were attached to the boards & I put the picture hangers on the back.I saved so much time by batching my work together & only using a few colors. Even though the colors were the same, each sign came out so unique.
I'm still debating if I'll do a winter collection. These signs took a lot of work & time. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to devote to a winter collection. But if there's an interest in my signs, I'll probably end up doing more!
