What can I say about the living room?

It wasn't too bad as far as living rooms go. No drywall!

There was the drop down in the floor, which I LOVED...until I fell into it. The I HATED it. The drop down did give the actual living room an intimate feel, if I wanted to literally fall into it from time to time!

In the back of the living room was the infamous spiral staircase. I know it's a thing in log homes, but not in my home! I couldn't imagine hauling furniture up and down that staircase. It was a huge space saver, though, and we quickly found out that the house really wasn't built for a real staircase.  Of course, that didn't stop us from building one!

  

The fireplace. I have a love/hate relationship with the mantel beam. I love it because it's rustic and a beam, but I hate it because it has that huge hole in the center and the top isn't level at all. How am I supposed to decorate my seasonal mantel when things won't stay on there?!


We're just about done with this space and I can't wait to show you the 'after' photos!
